Ingredients
4
160 grams Water
3 grams Salt
2 grams Instant yeast
6 grams Olive oil
200 grams Flour
2 grams Honey
Tips
Use high-quality olive oil for the best flavor.
Allow the dough to ferment longer for deeper flavor.
Experiment with toppings to suit your taste.
Avoid over-baking to ensure a soft interior.
Directions
Combine water, salt, yeast, olive oil, flour, and honey in a large bowl.
Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated into a sticky dough.
Cover the bowl with a damp cloth or plastic wrap.
Leave the dough to rest for 30 minutes.
After the initial rest, gently stretch the dough and fold it over itself.
Cover and let it rest for another 30 minutes.
Repeat the stretch-and-fold process four times, allowing a 30-minute interval between each.
Place the dough into an airtight container or cover it tightly.
Leave it to ferment in the refrigerator overnight, or for a minimum of 8-12 hours, until it doubles in size.
Once the dough has doubled, transfer it to a lightly greased baking tray or dish.
Gently press and spread it to fill the tray.
Add your choice of toppings (e.g., olives, cherry tomatoes, garlic, herbs, sea salt, olive oil).
Preheat your oven to 200° - 230°C (450°F).
Bake the focaccia for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy on top.
Let the bread cool slightly before cutting.
Serve warm as a side, appetizer, or sandwich base. This recipe serves 4.
