Allergy Advice
This recipe contains Dairy Products, Tree Nuts. People with such allergies should avoid adding such ingredients or try to replace them with better choices.
Ingredients
4
half cup Halim seeds
half cup Almonds
half cup Walnuts
three quarters cup Flax seeds
half cup Fresh grated coconut
1 cup Jaggery
half cup Milk
quarter cup Ghee
1 tablespoon Cardamom powder
quarter teaspoon Nutmeg powder
Tips
If the mixture feels too dry while shaping, add a teaspoon of melted ghee.
When roasting nuts, maintain a low flame to avoid bitterness.
Store in an airtight container for up to 7-10 days.
Can be stored for up to 1 month in the refrigerator.
Directions
In a bowl, combine Halim seeds (75 g) with milk and soak for 15 minutes. This helps soften the seeds for easier digestion and smoother ladoos.
In a heavy-bottomed kadhai, dry roast almonds, walnuts, and flax seeds separately on low flame. Allow them to cool, then grind them into a coarse powder (not too fine).
In the same kadhai, heat 0.25 cup of ghee. Add the soaked Halim seeds and sauté for 4-5 minutes on low flame. Cover and cook to ensure they absorb the ghee well.
Add the coarse powder of roasted nuts and flax seeds to the kadhai. Stir well, ensuring everything is mixed evenly.
Mix in the fresh grated coconut and jaggery. Stir well, cover, and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the jaggery melts and binds everything together.
Add cardamom powder and nutmeg powder for a fragrant finish. Stir well, then turn off the heat.
Allow the mixture to cool slightly. While still warm, shape the mixture into small ladoos, about 30g each.
Servings: 28 ladoos (approx. 30g each) total 700g.
Notes
Pregnant Women: Due to the heat-generating nature of Halim seeds, it’s best to consult a doctor before consuming.
Thyroid Patients: Flax seeds contain compounds that may interfere with thyroid function if consumed in excess.
People with Nut Allergies: Substitute the nuts if you have an allergy or omit them.
