Ingredients

half cup Water
quarter cup Lemon juice
half cup Tomato, Chopped
quarter cup Coriander leaves
1 & half tsp Rasam powder
1 & half tsp Ghee or oil
half teaspoon Mustard seeds
1 piece Green chili
half teaspoon Turmeric powder
1 pinch Asafetida
Salt as per taste
Tips
For added flavor, you can include a few curry leaves while tempering.
Adjust the level of spice by modifying the number of green chilies.
Serve with steamed rice for a complete meal.
Leftover rasam can be refrigerated for up to 2 days.
Directions
In a pot, heat the ghee or oil over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
Add the slit green chili and asafetida, sautéing for a few seconds until fragrant.
Mix in the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
Stir in the turmeric powder and rasam powder, cooking for another minute.
Add water and bring the mixture to a boil. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
Turn off the heat and stir in the lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves.
Adjust salt to taste, and serve hot.
