Allergy Advice
This recipe contains Peanuts. People with such allergies should avoid adding such ingredients or try to replace them with better choices.
Ingredients
2
half cup Sabudana
2 Teaspoons Ghee
2 tbsp Peanuts
half teaspoon Jeera (cumin)
1 piece Green chili, Fine Diced
1 piece Potato, Chopped
3 cups Water
Salt as per taste
half piece Lemon
Tips
Soaking Sabudana: Ensure sabudana is soaked well to achieve the right texture.
Heat Control: Maintain a gentle simmer to prevent the sabudana from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
Flavor Variations: Feel free to add other spices like black pepper or a bay leaf for added flavor.
Directions
Preparation: Start by rinsing the soaked sabudana until the water runs clear, ensuring it's well-drained.
Cook the Potatoes: In a pot, heat the ghee over medium heat. Add the jeera and let them splutter. Then add the chopped potatoes and sauté until slightly tender.
Simmer the Sabudana: Add the soaked sabudana, peanuts, and chopped green chili to the pot. Stir well to mix the ingredients.
Add Water and Season: Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil. Season with salt and reduce the heat, letting it simmer until the sabudana pearls become translucent and the potatoes are completely cooked, about 15 minutes.
Finishing Touches: Remove from heat and stir in the fresh lemon juice. Adjust the seasoning if needed.
Serve Warm: Ladle the soup into bowls and serve hot, especially comforting when fasting or on a chilly day.
Notes
Individuals with diabetes or those watching their carbohydrate intake should consume this soup in moderation due to its high glycemic index.
This soup is generally safe for most, but those with nut allergies should avoid it due to the presence of peanuts. Additionally, individuals sensitive to spicy foods should adjust the amount of green chili accordingly.
